Unwise state legislation has led to increased public safety challenges.  While our men and women in uniform are brave and determined to keep us safe, we need to give them the support they need to do their jobs effectively.  Peter’s philosophy is simple: the priority of government is to protect the people, and the city needs to maintain a budget that supports that goal, assuring that our city has the equipment and personnel to keep us safe. As your councilman I will fight to keep Mission Viejo safe and to protect our quality of life. I will make sure the city has enough sworn personnel to effectively serve our needs and will support establishing assistance for behavioral health to address mental crisises with compassion and skill. In addition, I will work to minimize our emergency response time and protect our city’s northern and eastern edges from wildfire risk.

As your Council Member, Peter will seek partnerships with Mission Viejo’s business and nonprofit community to both support them and to help revitalize our great town – without putting the cost on our residents’ backs. Peter will help lead efforts to encourage local economic growth and leverage his vast network of relationships to come together and collaborate to make logical common-sense decisions for the city. 

Peter has spent the past five years on Mission Viejo’s Planning and Transportation Commission, and Traffic Committee serving one year as Vice Chairman and one year as Chairman.  Throughout that time, he has been an advocate for smart development that adds value to our city and its residents, while maintaining our neighborhoods. As a Planning Commissioner, Peter played a crucial role in Mission Viejo’s Housing Element. Peter has a voting record that demonstrates a thoughtful approach to zoning and the needs of our city and its residents.

• Optimize Marguerite, Olympiad and Alicia Corridors, synchronize those traffic signals to improve traffic flow, review zoning and enact policy to assist the city staff in addressing vacant stores and blighted lots.
• Revitalize City Core and continue improvements along the Oso Creek Trail: Peter will continue to collaborate with the city staff to move forward with a commonsense plan for the City Core Los Oso project within a budget that doesn’t burden our residents with unwanted costs. Support projects that add value, use and beauty to our open space, and increase parking that encourages access to our city’s wide-ranging amenities.

As your council member, Peter will work to protect our quality of life.   Mission Viejo is a wonderful community, but we have room for improvement.  Peter wants to revitalize the Civic Core with a commonsense plan, beautify our neighborhoods, and assure that the city continues to develop and improve infrastructure throughout town. Peter will work to beautify our streets through focused maintenance and improvements, and by adding public art and green space across the city. Peter will continue his efforts to protect our single-family neighborhoods while providing housing options for folks of all means and walks of life.

Peter believes the hallmark of any great city is its schools. Mission Viejo is fortunate to have quality schools, and we must continue to push for the best. Peter’s daughter attended Reilly Elementary, Newhart Middle School and Capo Valley High School and Peter has volunteered and led as a Booster President and continues to support our local schools by contributing and attending events that support our neighborhood schools. Peter will continue to push Mission Viejo’s schools to great heights. Our children and grandchildren deserve it.
